Abner Spector, producer, composer and the founder / owner of Tuff Records. I remember the intense and creative song writing sessions that we had. We worked diligently composing "Look At Me Girl" b/w "I Tried" and when we finished writing the song we met with Richard Tee to rehearse the melody so he could write the arrangements for the song. A friend, Johnny B. Good introduced me to Abner in 1963. His office was on the same floor as The Broadway Recording Studio, in fact, it was directly across the hall from the studio. Abner's musical knowledge and natural instinct was the driving force in the creation and production for all of the artists that recorded for Tuff Records, distributed by Chess Records. My respect and gratitude for Abner will remain forever. His belief in my musical talents provided me with my first major recording contract with worldwide distribution. Thanks Abner, Jimmie Raye |
